PAPER:

1. Typography in contemporary media
2. The role of visual communication in forming the competitiveness of the tourism industry

ANNOTATION (1):

Legendary graphic designer Massimo Vignelli says: “We think typography's black and white; typography's really white, you know, it's not even black. It is the space between the blacks that really makes it.” On the long way from books of Aldus Manutiusto Carson’s post-modern works, typography has transformed and absorbed the changes in graphic design as well as the changes associated with the emergence of new technologies and communication means. In the beginning of XXI century, typography is not only and not so much printing as film captions, TV commercials, electronic publishing, interactive services, websites and other contemporary media.

We will discuss transformation of principles, methods and tools of typography during its evolution, the impact of digital technologies of XX centuryon typography, trends in typefaces and typography in the nearest future, and will also try to answer the question: “What should contemporary media take from the rich heritage of typography to become an effective means of visual communication?”.
