CONNECT UNIVERSUM 2023
On March 23-24, 2023, the Department of Social Communications, Faculty of Psychology, Tomsk State University is holding the Student Scientific Practical Conference with international participation and Russian-Vietnamese online meeting as part of Connect-Universum-2023.
The Siberian city of Tomsk has historically developed as a space of intercultural communication. Being in the center of the Eurasian continent, it has been equally open to the West and the East. Although Tomsk has cold climate conditions and stands aside from the major transport hubs, the city is worth visiting and choosing as a place to study because of the hospitality of Siberian people, and the special cozy atmosphere of an old city
Tomsk State University (TSU), the first Russian University beyond the Urals, is celebrating its 145-year anniversary this year. In 2020, TSU became the most international university in Russia; it was chosen by students from 70 countries. Over the past few years, the Bachelor’s Program in Advertising and Public Relations at TSU has attracted students from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, China, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Therefore, we decided to shift the focus of our traditional conference from scientific to practical issues to maintain intercultural relations; the key speakers will be young researchers, future practitioners in Public Relations and advertising.
On 23 March, the Student Scientific and Practical Conference Communications in the Future: Where are Advertising and PR Turning? will be held in a hybrid format, where both Russian and foreign students from TSU and other universities will deliver presentations.
On 28 March, from 19.30 to 21.30 (UTC +7) the online meeting Let’s Get Acquainted: How the University Brings Russia and Vietnam Together will be held as part of the Conference. Russian and Vietnamese students from Tomsk State University will communicate with school students and teachers of the Russian language from specialized schools in Vietnam via videoconference. Several generations of graduates of these schools have been studying Advertising and Public Relations at TSU. We have also invited former students who have already graduated from TSU and found themselves in demand as communications practitioners in Vietnam.
We invite everyone to join Connect-Universum – a space for intercultural dialogue, academic and professional discussions of university students, and topical research in the world of modern communications.
The meeting will be held in English and Russian.
